People in the UK's north-east were found to be most likely to suffer from adverse credit problems, according to a new report.
Credit report service MyCallcredit researched key indebtedness indicators on a postcode and regional level, and found Uxbridge to be the UK's most indebted town.
Dorchester was the town with the least amount of people facing adverse credit problems.
"The vast majority of people are still up to date with their credit commitments and managing their finances well but there is concern over levels of debt and pressure on lenders to lend responsibly," MyCallcredit director Alison Nicholson said.
Ms Nicholson said that this research hopes to help personal loan providers to be able to practise responsible lending.
Apart from Uxbridge, residents in Motherwell, Wigan, Ilford, Romford and Luton were found to be at risk of running into adverse credit problems.
Salisbury, Llandridnod Wells, York, Exeter and Taunton followed Dorchester as the least indebted town in the UK.
These indebtedness rankings are based on the analysis of consumers based on a number of debt indicators, including high outstanding credit balances, accounts falling into arrears and the frequent opening of new accounts.
